The impact of video games

Video games are often associated with violence, delinquency, crime or isolation. People who don't play video games believe that they don’t have positives effects on their health, mind and social skills. Studies have proven that video games have positive effects on many different aspects of our lives.


1. Video games have an impact on perception and vision


According to studies, after 50 hours of playing video games, the capacity to perceive the shades of colors increases by 58%. Playing video games improves eyesight and perceptual faculties.




2.video games affect intellectual capabilities


German research demonstrated that some video games enable the development of the areas of the brain responsible for memory or motor functions of hands.

Video games might slow down aging, but is more advantageous for simulation games. According to a recent study, playing simulation games for at least two hours a week slow down the degree of mental decline associated to natural aging .



3. Video games are good for decision making


Some action games increase reflexes and quick decision making. For example,

Call of Duty requires you to stay alert and make decisions quickly .

4. Video games improve problem-solving Strategy video games increase flexibility of the brain and develop our problem solving skills.

A study by the American Psychological Association in 2013 showed that adolescents who played strategy games had improved their problem solving abilities and had better grades in school.
